FUNDACIÓN TECNALIA RESEARCH & INNOVATION, commonly known under the trade mark of TECNALIA, is a Research and Testing Institute located in the Basque Country region, Spain. The staff of TECNALIA currently exceeds 1500 employees, which makes it one of the Top 5 Research Institutes in Europe. 80% of the activity is focused on R&D projects for a variety of sectors which include Energy, Construction, Industry, Transport, Health, ICT and some others. 20% of the activity is focused on testing services, working also for different sectors and applications.
TECNALIA Electrical Labs is a part of TECNALIA providing third-party testing services to the electrical sector, including manufacturers, utilities, engineering companies, etc. With a current staff of over 40 high skilled employees, our scope includes lab testing of electrical equipment such as Distribution Transformers, Instrument Transformers, Cables and Accessories, LV & MV Switchgear, Package Substations, Insulators and Bushings, Power Inverters, Smart Meters, etc. All of them under ILAC Accreditation according to ISO 17025 Standard.
TECNALIA Electrical Laboratories also provides on-site testing focused on large generators installed at power plants, high voltage cables and power transformers, as well as technical consulting services.
TECNALIA is already approved throughout Europe and has obtained approval by some of the most important utilities in the Middle East countries such as ADWEA, DEWA and SEWA in the UAE, DCRP in Oman and SEC in Saudi.
TECNALIA Testing activity can be complemented by Certification services provided by our key partners INTERTEK, UL, APPLUS, IMQ, ASEFA, worldwide recognized Certification Bodies under accreditation ISO 17065, who signed cooperation agreements with TECNALIA and offer our testing services to their clients in the Middle East as their reference lab in Europe.
